Material Handling & Storage
- Handle the product box with care to avoid pressure marks from careless handling.
- The product should be stored in an environment with temperatures below 90°F (32°C) and relative humidity between 40% and 60%.
- STEK Window film should be used within one year from the date of purchase.
- Repackaging a roll of film into a box bigger or smaller than the size of the roll can damage the film. STEK therefore recommends using the original box and packaging for storage.
- When rewinding or cutting in order to repackage the film, note that surface marks (e.g., small dots, twists, etc.) may appear on the surface due to dirt or dust contamination. If repackaging, ensure that your workspace is clean.
- After using part of a roll of film, do not repack it loosely. Keep the film as it was originally packaged—rolled tight and held in place by taping.
- Adhesive characteristics may change between seasons if the application environment is not climate-controlled. This is typical of the material. Particularly in cold weather, apply the film only in environments with temperatures higher than 50°F(10°C).
- Contact the manufacturer if using Window Film is being used for non-automotive purposes. Material size, packaging, and adhesive specifications may need to be changed.
STEK is not responsible for damage caused by mishandling, improper storage, recutting, or repacking. Failure to follow these Material Handling & Storage instructions may result in the voiding of your warranty, as outlined in the Limitations and Exclusions section.
Installation & Care
The Mounting Solution used during the installation of STEK Window Film product(s) may require a drying time. This period may lengthen in cold or non-sunny weather, and shorten in warm weather or with direct sun exposure. You may notice small water beads and a slightly cloudy appearance as the film dries. As the film will dry completely in due course, a slow drying time is not a cause for concern.
- Do not roll down the windows for 48 hours after film installation.
- Do not clean the window or use the defrosting function for 7 days after the film is installed to ensure complete adhesion to the glass.
- Avoid using pads or cleaners containing abrasives or industrial glass cleaners.
- Do not use ammonia- or alcohol-based cleaners when cleaning the window.
- When cleaning the window, gently wipe it with a dry towel and lukewarm water.
- Avoid attaching stickers or adhesive tapes to the coated surface.
Drying Period Reminder: Please be advised that between 4 and 10 weeks after installation, temporary visual distortions, such as blurring or water droplet-shaped marks, may occur as the film completes its drying process. This is a normal occurrence and will not impact the long-term performance or quality of the product. These effects will resolve once the film has fully adhered to the glass.
Failure to follow these Installation & Care instructions instructions may result in the voiding of your warranty as outlined in the Limitations and Exclusions section.
Maintenance & Care Instructions:
To maximize the life of the window film, follow these instructions for proper care and maintenance:
- Drying After Installation: Drying time may vary based on weather conditions. You may see small water beads and a cloudy appearance, which is normal.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT OPERATE YOUR WINDOWS UNTIL THE FILM IS COMPLETELY DRY. - The window film can be cleaned with most standard washing solutions. however, it is imperative to avoid ammonia-based cleaning products.
- Always utilize clean, soft materials when washing and drying the window film surfaces. Use a soft cloth (microfiber is recommended) or a clean synthetic sponge for washing. for drying, a clean, soft cloth or a soft rubber squeegee is advisable.
